Guatemala (MNN) ― Just a few days after Christmas, December 29, a group of 16 short-term missionaries will be headed to Guatemala with Orphan Outreach.

The team will be in Guatemala for about a week. While there, they will distribute backpacks to children in three cities and in three schools and orphanages in Guatemala City near the dump community. The children they hope to reach are those who have never received previous help.

Those who live in the dump make their living there as well. They find everything they need to survive from what other people have thrown away. The smell and the sight is hard to miss, with dump trucks arriving and leaving constantly.

The team will visit the cities of Pannabaj, Chi Chi, and Pacux. Pray for them as they prepare for the trip.
