Topping today's news, senior diplomats and the Buddhist clergy warn of an escalation in violence in Sri Lanka ahead of October's general elections. Seeking an end to the Tamil separatist war, the Sri Lankan government dissolved Parliament early and scheduled quick elections. Back To The Bible's James Kanaganayagam. "There is a bit of tension as to what will happen in the future. In the meantime, the church continues its programs-the Constitution allows for the propagation of our faith, though it does give precedence to Buddhism." Kanaganayagam adds that prayer is encouraging. "In village areas, in the rural areas, Buddhist monks have a lot of clout, and therefore, there are churches that have been hindered by the people in the area because of the growth in the church. We can pray that the church would be bold, that the church would be willing to be creative in reaching out to its non-Christian neighbors."
