Tanzania (MNN) ― Missionary kids are stepping into their parents' shoes this week in Tanzania.

Students at Haven of Peace Academy in Dar es Salaam are traveling into town to a school that reaches out to physically- and mentally-challenged children. The academy students will spend time serving and just being with the children this week.

Gil, a ReachGlobal personnel in Tanzania, is leading the trip. It is a part of the school's challenge to students to serve and imitate Christ by helping their community. It also is an opportunity for the students to actively pursue strengthening their godly character and lifestyle.

The school currently serves 290 children whose parents are missionaries. They account for 40 percent of the student body. 32 percent of the student body comes from the surrounding area in Tanzania and 29 percent from other countries. This creates a very culturally-diverse atmosphere.

Pray that the students who are taking part in the trip will be stretched and grow spiritually. Pray, also, that Gil will have opportunities for meaningful discipleship with his team.
