Kenya (MNN) ― Kenya's president, Mwai Kibaki, has finally brought about an end to months of political stalemate.

Odinga is the head of a new 40-member cabinet, as part of a power-sharing
agreement between the Party of National Unity (PNU) and the Orange Democratic
Movement (ODM).
The division of the cabinet positions between the PNU and ODM comes after months
of talks and violence following the December elections.
While government leaders are saying the crisis is over, chaos still exists, especially in places where poverty is rampant. That's why bringing hope to these dark corners is so vital.
IN Network was ready to launch a new program in the Kibera slums when the unrest began: "The world is never a safe place, but the world is even scarier for women and children," says IN Network's Rody Rodeheaverr. Unfortunately, that launch was interrupted by the riots.
The team didn't give up. Even though the progress was delayed, they steadily pressed forward. Unfortunately, momentum was lost. The team was working toward a child sponsorship program, as well as a discipleship and mentorship program. Rodeheaver says, "We're going back in about three weeks to launch and reconstitute all of that that was slowed up because of the violence."
IN Network's partner in the region is currently working with 150 children in a mentorship program. It's IN Networks answer to being part of the peace solution. Rodeheaver explains, "How this program will reach out to them is to link them up with a mentor, someone who is a believer who is attending a church in the slum so they understand the realities of that place; they understand what it means to live there. They also are people who know Christ, who have hope and who are growing in Him, and who can walk alongside of these children."
Their goal is to have reached a thousand children within the next three years. Pray for funding to support this program. As the situation continues to settle down, the displaced are able to return home. Pray for the displaced that Christian ministries will help in providing for their huge needs.
