Hindu militants attacked the lecture hall, accusing one lecturer of 'forced conversions.'
That's according to a report from Voice of the Martyrs Canada from a May 26 report from the Global Council of Indian Christians. Dr. Isaac Namadevu and Rev. Jayaprakash were in the hall when the militants came in early afternoon. Jayaprakesh was the target for their claims of "forced conversion." The militants proceeded to tear apart Bibles, smash windows and destroy furniture.
Several students as well as the teachers sustained injuries. Eleven of the militants were later detained and stayed in police custody when the college filed a complaint.
Though a majority of India is Hindu, the government does what it can to protect the freedoms of other religions, according to Voice of the Martyrs Canada. Several states have anti-conversion laws, however, and persecution is far from over. It is a daily reality.
Pray for the students and teachers to recover fully from their injuries. Pray that they will not be deterred from sharing their faith and living life with a powerful Christian witness.
