India (MNN) ― For the second time in six months, fire has struck a slum in
southern India inhabited by
5,000 families, temporarily cutting off a two-week Children’s Bible Club
sponsored by Mission India.
Over 180 children were attending the third day of the Bible Club when the families of 70 children lost everything in the fire. 150 homes were destroyed in the fire, compared to 200 homes destroyed in the fire six months ago.
Most of the families in the slum are members of the destitute, illiterate Banjara tribal group. The slum community is very receptive to the Gospel, and a thriving church of almost 200 families has been established.
The church is ministering to the needs of families affected by the fire, and it is hoped that the Bible Club will resume as soon as possible.
