Mongolia (MNN) ― The people of Mongolia do not generally celebrate Christmas. Most of them go to work as usual. However, WIND-FM, a partner of Far East Broadcasting Company, plans to treat families in Ulaanbaatar to a special program on Christmas day.
WIND-FM hopes to reach families who don't know Christ through the program, which it will hold at a state-owned drama theatre.
"25 Happy Families" will win gift packages at the program, which will also feature the Christmas story, games, listener testimonies, a children's choir with a nationally-recognized singer, and a presentation of the Gospel by a local pastor.
WIND-FM has invited local media to cover the event, as well as a number of churches to display information and answer questions at the event.
Four radio stations in Ulaanbaatar, as well as three stations covering state regions, are airing a drama called "The Life of Christ" daily during the month of December. Local churches are following up with literature distribution.
Fifteen years ago, fewer than 20 Christians lived in Mongolia. Today, WIND-FM is one of the country's most popular radio stations. It is one of the three most-listened radio stations in Ulaanbaatar, and the government awarded it an annual certificate of honor in 2004.
WIND-FM's studios have the potential to reach a total of 6
million people throughout Outer and Inner Mongolia, including close to 1
million people in Ulaanbaatar. Pray that many Mongolians will hear the Gospel and respond in faith.
