Africa (MNN) ― In the Central African Republic, a man named Umaru visited the EFCA ReachGlobal hospital after suffering a compound fracture from a motorcycle accident. While recovering in the hospital, Umaru asked to see the JESUS film and was captivated. He gave his life to Christ.
"It's like I was in a deep well, and you plucked me out and set me on solid ground," Umaru told a ReachGlobal team member.
While in the hospital, Umaru watched the JESUS film continuously for several weeks. When he was discharged, he asked to borrow the film to show people in his village.
Currently, Umaru uses a ReachGlobal Bible study series to read and study Scripture with his older brother. His brother is a teacher of the Qur'an, and a ReachGlobal believer from a Muslim background is helping the pair work through the Word.
In 2007, "ReachAfrica" was developed to raise up and equip indigenous African missions teams. Over 1,000 unreached people groups exist in Africa, comprising more than 260 million people. EFCA also enables missionaries in the CAR to care for people through their "well child" clinics. Donations enable ReachGlobal, the international ministry of the Evangelical Free Church of America, to administer vaccinations, educate nurses, and provide AIDS education.
