Ghana (MNN) ― Hundreds of children are responding to the Gospel in Ghana. An AMG International partner, Ohene Kumi has an agreement with the schools in Accra to reach 20,000 students during the school year.
AMG's Roger Thomas explains, "They pass out Mailbox Club Bible lessons to junior high students, and these kids get one lesson every week for the whole three years that they're in junior high. In August of each year, they have Vacation Bible Schools. It's the culmination of this year of Bible study where the kids come together for a week. There are hundreds of them that come to know the Lord at those times."
Last year, 3,500 children attended, and 441 made decisions to surrender their lives to Christ. Ohene writes all of the VBS materials himself and runs the ministry out of one bedroom of his three-bedroom apartment.
However, drops in funding prevented them from getting all the lessons out. In addition, "Many of these students who get these lessons every week don't have a Bible in their home to do their homework. So we have a proposal requested to a foundation to provide 8,000 Bibles to the families of these kids."
In addition to his VBS ministry, Kumi teaches at the All Africa Bible College in Accra, the capital city of Ghana. He also oversees twice-a-year leadership training seminars for pastors and Christian workers.
Although his colleague Kenneth Amoateng receives no financial support, he willingly oversees the ministry of Bible correspondence courses for both children and adults.
