Philippines (MNN) ― Last Saturday, six armed men abducted a frail Irish priest from his home in the Philippines. Voice of the Martyrs Canada reports that Father Michael Sinnott, 79 years old, is alive but still at the mercy of his unknown captors.
Near Mindanao, Philippines, Father Sinnott was kidnapped as he conducted his evening prayers. Known to be in frail health, believers ask you to pray for Sinnott's well-being during this time of captivity.
An Islamic rebel group, Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), is suspected of holding the priest captive. Although denying any involvement, MILF rebels have been active in the region for years and are the authorities' main suspect. According to VOMC, authorities spotted Sinnott and his captors on Monday and Tuesday approximately 70 km from his point of capture.
Father Sinnott has served in the Philippines for the past 40 years. Active in many charities, Sinnott is fluent in several languages and founded a charity in 1998; his charity is dedicated to the ill and also to disabled children.
VOMC asks you to pray for Father Sinnott's protection and immediate release. Pray also for his fragile health.
