Meanwhile, the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church is Sunday. 130-thousand churches in 130 countries are participating. International Needs' Pastor Nicanor Taman (NIH-cuh-nor TAY-man) of Nepal says persecution continues in the world's only Hindu Kingdom. "My firm belief is that those who live Godly lives will suffer persecution whether you live in America or anywhere else, but in Nepal, right now, as I'm speaking to you today, there are some people who are in jail. And their crime is that they tried to preach the Gospel." According to Taman prayer is needed for evangelists in the country. He's expecting attacks because they're seeing great success. "At the end of 1989, we estimate there could have been 40,000 to 60,000 believers in Nepal. In 1990, democracy came to Nepal. As a result of that, we estimate that in Nepal today, there could be between 400,000 to 500,000 believers."
