Our newscast begins in Nigeria, where there's word that Kano State has joined the league of the Northern Nigerian State governments implementing full Islamic Sharia law. The Jesus Film Project's Daniel Atiyaya (uh-TEE-yi-yay) believes this move is part of a direct rebellion against Christian president Olusegun Obasanjo. "No matter how they blackmail his government or put him in a difficult position to be able to give good leadership, to governance, the Lord will help him because I believe the Lord is his strength." Atiyaya says evangelism in the Islamic law states of Nigeria could get tricky. "It's illegal to officially share your faith openly with the Muslims, because you'll go against the law of Islam. But, the hearts of the people are ready to receive Christ, irrespective of what kind of law they are trying to implement. We get a lot of people who are thirsty."
