Malawi (MNN) ― World Hope International is celebrating a milestone with the drilling of their 500th well in the tiny village of Phuka, Malawi.

Around 1,000 people are benefiting from this fresh, life-giving water, in and near the village. Now they can use the water for cooking, drinking, and bathing, and they will not have to worry about any disease-laden bacteria it might contain.

Fresh water rejuvenates communities, allowing them to begin looking toward the future with their basic need for water guaranteed.

Since World Hope began their Wells Program, they have helped more than 350,000 people--not only giving them clean drinking water but also sharing Christ, the Living Water, with people who are spiritually thirsty.

In 2010, World Hope has already drilled around 100 wells and plans to drill around 60 more before the end of the year.
