Story number 3 for 22 Dec 2000

Posted: 22 December, 2000

Word of a cease-fire in Sierra Leone has been greeted very cautiously by Baptist leaders there. The main Baptist work in Sierra Leone is in the northern provinces under rebel control. Many church members have been displaced, pastors, teachers, medical workers lost and most institutions vandalized or destroyed. However, 28 churches have been started in Freetown with those who have escaped from rebel areas. Baptist World Aid continues to support this work. Please pray for Christians in this area.
