International (FFH/MNN) ― Food For The Hungry (FH) and Adventures in Missions (AIM) have partnered to combine missions and field service.

Through Adventures' short-term missions program, The World Race, people are leaving their comfortable lives behind to embark on a unique adventure in Kingdom-building.

It is a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve the poorest of the poor while living among them. It facilitates discipleship and births partnerships with ministries around the world.

Some days are packed with construction, VBS, building relationships with orphans, or praying for the sick at a hospital. Some days are slower, spent interacting in the community markets, or going on prayer walks.

Racers will give raw updates of their journey through their personal blogs, provided by Adventures, giving blog-followers a firsthand look at the mission field and the work that they are doing. In addition, while many blog followers may never visit these countries, they can help continue the missionaries work in these fields through child sponsorship with Food for the Hungry.

In 2012, over 500 World Race participants will launch into the nations as member of "squads" consisting of about 50 people each. Countries that will be visited include Haiti, Moldova, South Africa, India, the Philippines, Honduras, Romania, Kenya, Thailand, Cambodia, Nicaragua, Cambodia, Uganda, and India.

"We're so excited for this partnership. Adventures is not only doing amazing things and assisting in individuals finding who they are in Christ, but they are also a like-minded organization that believes in making a difference for those across the world that have no voice and opportunity of their own," said Tim Smith, Chief Development Officer at Food for the Hungry. "We see a long-lasting partnership with AIM--not only with the World Race and child sponsorship, but also with one-on-one work in the field."

"I got my start in long-term missions responding to the genocide in Cambodia in 1980 with Food for the Hungry," shares Seth Barnes, Founder/Executive Director of Adventures in Missions. "It was a powerful experience that transformed me for life. I met Larry Ward in Bangkok and heard his heart for the poor and hurting. Years later, I am thrilled to be partnering with FH around the world. Larry may be gone, but his spirit lives on in the way FH touches the poor in Jesus' name."
