Story number 1 for 6 Jun 2001

Headlining today\'s news, missionaries are still trying to determine what effect the assassination of Nepal\'s royal family will have on the future of evangelism there. International Needs Network\'s David Culross explains the situation. \"This is an unprecedented situation. They\'ve never had a royal family that\'s been assassinated in total. To say that a new king would be opposed to Christianity and that would have an impact, we don\'t know yet because we don\'t know how much power that king will wield over the elected government officials.\" Culross says anti-conversion laws are still on the books, but they\'re not enforced. He says that\'s why they didn\'t open their ministry-training center in Nepal. \"That training center has been established a few kilometers over the border between Nepal and India so we don\'t have to risk having our school confiscated. Hundreds of thousands of Nepalese live in that area so it\'s a tremendous opportunity for us to train a generation of Christian leaders.\"
