A teacher shortage is affecting Interserve

Posted: 19 December, 2005

Interserve (MNN) ― While most teachers wouldn't consider traveling to the ends of the earth to serve Christ, that's an incredible need right now. The need for teachers for children of cross-cultural workers is causing many Partners of Interserve to leave their work behind.
Interserve's Personnel Director, John Kennedy says, "A generation ago, Partners sent their children to denominational boarding schools when they reached junior high and high school age. Now, they are reluctant to do so because of the cost and the desire to keep the family together."
More geographically remote fields are now opening up for Partners, especially in Central Asia, but those willing to serve as teachers to expatriate children has not kept up with the demand.
Retired teachers and recent graduates are being recruited to help. In the United States call 1-800-809-4440.
