The past two years have seen wells and watering holes dry up completely. Aid agencies estimate that nearly 70 to 80 percent of cattle herds have died in the drought.
The drought is exacerbating an already precarious and difficult situation in many of the countries due to pre-existing poverty, conflict and inadequate infrastructure.
Due to the overwhelming needs, MAF teams will be a regular part of the relief effort over the next five months. MAF planes have been serving countless thousands of men, women and children, bringing medical care, emergency food, and Christian hope, serving as the air-arm of the church.
