International (MNN) ― Global Advance is trying to work itself out of a job.
Founder David Shibley explains the rationale behind training national leaders for ministry. The hostility in many nations against Americans plays a role in the urgency for training. "The potential for Western-based missions being dis-invited from nations is very, very high and those factors make it a very wise thing to equip national pastors and church leaders, as well as Christian business persons in the marketplace."
Shibley says Global Advance strives to leave each frontline shepherd with a vision in their heart and tools in their hands. "I feel that the Lord allowed us to stumble upon the principle that the Apostle Paul himself used in 2 Timothy 2:2, when he said, 'The things that you've heard from me, and trust these things to faithful men.' They, in turn, will be able to teach others. It seems to me that was the strategy that he employed."
Their goal: to strategically align pastors and Christian business leaders in developing nations for the cause of Christ in their nations. They want national business leaders to be catalysts for the Great Commission.
