Why? The seven northern and northeastern provinces are strongly Catholic and relatively few evangelical churches exist. Add to that the fact that many church groups in Portugal still have no trained pastors or leaders, and the need for the school becomes clear.
Most students have a full time secular job and come to study in the evenings, so commitment demands real sacrifice. They will often go out from the college to minister in local churches. One instructor hopes to use students more in church planting activities in the future.
Their biggest obstacles are encouraging the church to grow past serious divisions, to instill the desire for a united vision, and a light the fire for world evangelization.
