Reports of swift executions continue trickling out of the country. Open Doors says those who possess or distribute the Bible are subject to a minimum sentence of 13 years and a maximum sentence of death.
Because the man was caught with two of their Korean New Testaments in his possession, the government likely knows what they look like. According to early reports, the texts, which were bound in a simple one-color cover, became recognizable to North Korean authorities.
To that end, WBTC is working with missionaries to put the Korean Scriptures in other formats that will not be recognizable as Scripture. This is a move to protect the women and men putting their lives at risk for God's work.
