Cameroon (MNN) ― Wycliffe Bible Translators is excited about how the Kom people of Cameroon are receiving the Scripture. Many are memorizing the Kom New Testament, of which only three-thousand copies were printed.
Kom serves as a member of the Bum language family and as a reference text for three new translations. Under a newly-formed cluster project, teams are translating the New Testament and portions of the Old Testament for the Central Ring language family simultaneously--the Bum, the Mmen, and the Babanki.
They recently held a very successful Gospel Narrative Workshop focusing on how stories are told in the four gospels. Mother-tongue translators from two of the Central Ring languages attended and left the workshop with their draft of the Resurrection Story, just in time for Easter.
Meanwhile, literacy work is growing through a project with 20 primary schools, and JESUS film showings resulted in 8,000 new believers.
Continue to pray about the next phase: the launch of the Kom New Testament on audio cassette tapes and the development of listening groups in the Kom churches.
