Christian music is just one way to catch the attention of Native American youth (RHM).
According to On Eagles' Wings Craig Smith, "With the help and encouragement of a local Native church, our team and the local believers partnered together to make the outreaches some of the most powerful and relevant youth-oriented ministry they had ever seen."
Smith says that like many Native churches nationwide, the congregations tend to be older people and many don't have regular and relevant youth ministry going on.
He says, "These dear folks stood in amazement as the hope stories of our team members connected to the youth of this community. Stories of victory through Christ over drug and alcohol abuse, sexual abuse, and even suicide attempts among our team rang out through the night sky as the light of the Gospel moved outside the walls of a few small local churches and met hurting Native youth in their 'home court,' where they often hang out night after night shooting hoops and just trying to survive."
Many of these believers went outside of their "comfort zones" and listened to the beat of hip-hop music so they could feed the crowds who came to participate in the youth outreach. They were moved to tears by the 30 people who made professions of faith in Christ.
One young man came to Christ out of a relationship with one of the team members who is a talented skateboarder and inline skater. This young man made a connection, heard the Gospel, felt God's leading, and made a commitment to Christ.
The team is asking that you continue to pray for them as they come to the conclusion of the outreach in Florida. Pray that God would continue to touch the hearts of hurting Native American young people trapped by sin and desperation.
