1.2 billion people need water, Christians are assisting

International (MNN) — It’s a problem that isn’t going away. 1.2 billion people around the world lack clean safe drinking water. The problem is killing 30,000 people each day and most of them are dying without Christ. That’s why Living Water International is trying to raise awareness and raise support for this on-going problem.

Living Water’s President Jerry Wiles says, “We’re working in 11 African countries and Central and South America and Asia. So it’s pretty exciting to be able to save lives and change destinies by bringing clean safe drinking water. And, of course, we always bring the Gospel with that.”

Most of the people that are living without clean safe drinking water are living on less than a dollar a day and many of them live in countries hard to reach with the Gospel. Wiles says Living Water is a strategic partner in introducing Christ to these areas. “We’re working where they’re planting a church and drilling a well. And, then the believers there, freely share their clean safe drinking water with the Muslims and Hindus and others. And, it really opens up the door for the gospel in ways that conventional strategies have not been effective.”

That’s why there’s such a need for funding for this. Living Water is beginning to open satellite offices around the world to help do that. You’re gift of $100 can supply clean, safe drinking water to 100 people for a full year, plus help them hear the Gospel.
