A Christian in Muslim country is being tortured for his faith

Undated (MNN) — Unfortunately we can’t name the country. We can’t tell you the man’s name. Tensions are high in this predominately Muslim nation and Christians’ lives are in danger. But, Christians are being asked to unite in prayer for a man who was arrested and reportedly is being tortured for his faith in Christ.

Strategic World Impact’s Kevin Turner says this man is one of SWI’s workers. “We have several people who have left Islam and come to Christ and one of our key converts is now in prison. They said he is being tortured. (I) just ask people to pray for our workers that are really suffering hugely just to name the name of Jesus.”

The persecution is a direct response to the success of their evangelistic outreach. The goal is to lead Muslims to Christ, enabling them to do the work. Turner says prayer is essential. “The place where they’re keeping him is notorious for torture. They already know now that he is a Christian now. We have local staff working right now to secure his release that has been ineffective so far.”

Turner says there’s a reason the opposition is lashing out. “We’re going into an area where there were just a handful of believers. And, we have organized set-ups where they’re systematically reaching out to populations and people groups that have no witness for Christ.”
