A free trip to Dominican Republic

By April 7, 2009

Dominican Republic (MNN) — For the month of April, Mission Network News is promoting an all-expense paid trip for two to the Dominican Republic offered by Kids Alive International. So what's the catch?

There is no catch really.  The purpose of this trip is to engage people in the ministry of Kids Alive, and hopefully ignite enough passion for the two chosen to spread the good news about what God's doing around the world to others upon their return.

Kids Alive president Al Lackey says, "We're looking for a spiritual fire to be lit in the hearts and lives of the two people chosen to join us on this trip."

They will get to see firsthand how Kids Alive is affecting the lives of children in Dominican Republic. "They're going to get a chance to see kids who have recently been taken in and rescued. They're going to get a chance to see kids who have been in the program for a while," says Lackey. "Then they're going to get the special opportunity to meet the kids who have graduated and then see the fruit of what the Western church has done for that country."

Essentially, the purpose of the trip is "getting the word out [about the work of Kids Alive] so that others will share this passion to reach kids, not only from a physical and humanitarian side, but our desire and passion is that they become children of God."

It is important to know that Kids Alive encourages children to strive after Christ in their own country. And if a husband and wife is chosen for the trip, Lackey emphasizes that the purpose of this opportunity is not to adopt children. "Our philosophy is that we want to keep that child in his or her country, because as we educate the child and he grows and matures and becomes a believer in Jesus Christ, he literally has an impact on the whole country."

The trip will take place at the end of the summer or early fall for the two who win the drawing. Over 150 people have already applied in just one week, so apply to day.
