Adoption webinars for the next two Tuesdays

By March 2, 2011

International (MNN) — Going through the adoption process and bringing up an adopted child are difficult to say the least. So any bit of advice could be worthwhile.

Bethany Christian Services is offering two webinars that adoptive parents won't want to miss.

On Tuesday March 8, pay just $15 to sit under the teaching of world-renowned attachment expert Dr. Dan Hughes. Dr. Hughes, along with Lynn Wetterberg, will discuss family-centered strategies on how to form strong attachments and stay connected throughout your child's development.

This "Connecting Your Family Inside Out" online teaching will also include advice on finding professional support and resources. The webinar, which goes from 7:00-8:00PM Central Time, also includes a Question and Answer period from 8:00-8:30PM Central. Register here.

The Center for Adoption Support and Education (CASE) will also host an online forum entitled "Building Self-Esteem and Racial Identity in Trans-racially Adopted Youth" on Tuesday, March 15. At this webinar, follow along with Dr. Leigh Leslie, Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies specializing in race and gender issues at the University of Maryland. Dr. Leslie will be joined by CASE C.E.O. Debbie Riley.

At this forum, learn what trans-racially adopted youth need for healthy racial identity development, how to help your children cope with racial discrimination, and more.

The March 15 webinar will be from 9:00-10:30PM Eastern Standard Time. It costs just $10 and can count toward your required hours of pre-adoption training with Bethany. Register here.

Taking the time to learn more about adoptive parenting could help you be a better light for Christ to your children. These webinars will help you care for them as Christ would.
