Book of Hope touches hearts in Indonesia.

Indonesia (MNN)–The story reads like a novel–a team of people encounters a sudden change of plans, and is on hand to witness one of the world’s worst disasters.

But that’s exactly what happend to the Book of Hope’s team in Aceh. The team in Sumatra was traveling province by province training local teams and carrying out distributions.

They were scheduled to be in North Sumatra last November and December, but at the last minute their trip was postponed until January.

Thus, they found themselves at the very edge of the mouth of destruction when the tsunami roared ashore December 26th.

BOH’s team decided to stay in order to represent Christians in a joint humanitarian aid effort with the area’s Muslims. They are also distributing the Book of Hope and ministering to the needs of the people as they begin to recover from the tsunami.

Thousands of survivors began flooding into the area. The Aceh province has long been considered by many to be the “front porch of Islam” and is a stronghold for the most fanatical group in Southeast Asia.

In light of this, BOH is urging prayer for the team’s ministry, that it will be effective and that many will receive the hope of Christ.
