Brazil’s new missionaries

By December 9, 2011

Brazil (MNN) — Brazil could be seeing a new wave of missionaries.

Brazilian youth have been coming to Christ in droves lately. The number of young Christians increases daily. Operation Mobilization says Brazil has great potential to start sending out a lot more international missionaries.

This isn't just talk. Over 400 young people recently completed a four-day conference in Santos, Brazil focusing on the importance of and opportunities in missions.

The event, "Transmission," started as an initiative of a group of young people in the region. By conference time, OM had gotten deeply involved. The ministry was invited to minister to teens, to present opportunities for missions to young people, to give training on creative ways of sharing the Gospel, and to preach during the services.

The purpose of the event was to transmit the missionary challenges for this generation and motivate young people to have a real and personal involvement with God.

The OM team in Brazil is still waiting on the results of the conference, but they are extremely optimistic that a lot of young people will take the plunge into missions.

"Some of these we will see directly," says team leader Julio Moromisato. "We have faith that several people will get involved in missions through OM. But we cannot measure all that God will do in the lives of those who were challenged to serve Him with their lives and talents."

This new generation has a world of opportunity and responsibility to spread the Good News. Pray that more and more young people in Brazil will be motivated to share the truth domestically and internationally. Pray also that OM Brazil will continue to have opportunities to serve this generation, showing the creative ways that exist to proclaim the Gospel.
