Africa (MNN) — Africa (MNN) — Africa is a continent of great diversity. Nowhere is this seen more than in its numerous languages. Under the banner of World by Radio, several major Christian broadcasters identified the 111 mega languages in Africa. Trans World Radio is responsible for producing programs in 41 of these languages, 14 of which are spoken by Muslims.

TWR is building bridges through a series of programs aimed for Muslims. In 2001, Bwalo Lathu (Our Meeting Place in Chichewa) became the potential forerunner for a series of broadcasts for Muslim audiences across the sub-Saharan region.

Response has been positive, with many listener clubs formed. As a result of its success, Bwalo Lathu is being adapted and developed for broadcast in West Africa in a number of World by Radio languages. Next month, a program in Moore will air to the Mossi people of Burkina Faso and Cote d’Ivoire.
