Global Aid Network holds event to help starving children

By June 9, 2009

USA (MNN) — Everyday thousands of children die around the globe from starvation, but you can help lower this number.

From June 18-24 at the Pennsylvania Distribution Center, Global Aid Network and Feed My Starving Children are partnering to hold Mix a Meal: Food Packaging Event.

If you are seven years of age or older, you can help by signing up for a two-hour volunteer shift any day of the event.

When you arrive, there is a 15-minute orientation and then a two-hour shift. Volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes for packaging.
The meals will be placed into small pouches, and each pouch will contain six nutritious meals.

The meals include rice, soy nuggets to provide the most protein for the least cost, dehydrated vegetables, vitamins, minerals and vegetarian chicken flavoring. It costs only 25 cents to provide a meal to a family facing hunger and to give them hope through evangelistic outreach.

If you live close to the Pennsylvania Distribution Center and would like to volunteer for a two-hour shift, go to their Web site for times and dates. If you would like to donate to GAiN USA and help them give meals and hope to more hungry families, you can also go to their Web site and click donate now.
