Halfway through “Year of the Bible 2004”

Russia (MNN) — “Year of the Bible 2004” is seeing midpoint success. According to the Bible League the campaign hits its halfway mark this month in Russia, Ukraine, and other form Soviet block nations. This awareness campaign is meant to spur Christians into daily Bible reading and also to introduce God’s Word to millions more in 10 former Soviet Union countries by year’s end.

The Bible League says the campaign is still gaining momentum and they have been able to provide needed Scriptures and Bible study materials to hundreds of churches in this part of the world.

Various tools are being used to help promote this campaign. Several churches are conducting a Bible recycling program. A web site has been launched to help churched participate. Mobile displays are traveling throughout Kazakstan. A calendar is being used to help remind Christians throughout the former Soviet Union to pray and read their Bible. Several churches are committed to read the Bible in one year. A prayer group is also holding 90-day prayer vigils for the positive impact this campaign may have on the lives touched.
