Scripture ministry team continues to see growth; building project stalls

By September 1, 2011

Mozambique (MNN) — The fundraising for
a new studio facility in Mozambique is at roughly a third of the
total needed.

Here's the situation: if the money doesn't
come in, the project stalls. And if the project stalls, getting the Scriptures
out in audio form also stalls. For
Audio Scripture Ministries, that's too high a price to pay.

ASM is working hard right now not
only to share the vision, but to plan a mission. Their partners in Xai Xai, Mozambique, are crammed into the single story of
a Bible school. As the outreach grows,
the need for space also grows, which is what led to the need for new
facilities.

Not only is funding a main challenge,
but so is providing the manpower to see the studios built from the ground up. Ground was broken this summer, and
construction has begun. In the first leg
of this journey, progress was encouragingly fast.

Now, the ministry is planning ahead
for the next phase of construction and trusting God for the funds. They're organizing
three construction teams in 2012: one in January, one February 22-March 4,
and one March 17-29th.  They're looking
for people (like plumbers or electricians) who have knowledge or experience in the building-related trades.

Even during construction, ASM
continues to record and distribute audio Scriptures. They're
in talks with several national Bible Societies concerning permissions and licenses
needed for languages in South Africa and Mozambique. The team also has several hundred new digital
audio players coming in. They'll be loading
the new units soon and confirming plans to distribute them throughout
Mozambique.

In the past few weeks, Crown of
Victory Studio has begun an outreach to the youth in three communities near Xai-Xai. In
each of these communities, young people are now gathering every Saturday afternoon to
listen to Bible Stories in their heart language.

Pray for those who gather and also for
the volunteers who take the time to travel to these communities, play the stories, and
answer questions. Pray that the Lord would use this new outreach to raise up a new generation of
Christ-followers in that area.
