‘Shoes For Orphan Souls’ celebrates a milestone.

By August 29, 2005

International (MNN)–Buckner Orphan Care International’s ‘Shoes For Orphan Souls’ is in it’s seventh season of giving new shoes to children worldwide.

Last year, the organization reached a milestone, topping one million new shoes given to children in over 30 countries.

Christian radio stations nationwide kicked off their shoe drives throughout this month. Proceeds from a Texas Rangers’ game will also help distribute the shoes to children who desperately need them.

Buckner’s new ‘Shoeless Sunday’ campaign will provide a way for churches to collect funds to ship SOS collections worldwide.

Buckner works with churches and others to collect new shoes and socks all year. Volunteers are being sought to sort shoes and accompany BOCI on shoe delivery missions to China, Guatemala, Kenya, Latvia, Peru, Romania and Russia.

During distribution, team members tell the children that the shoes came from people who love them, and that they are loved by their heavenly Father.
