We begin today in the Democratic Republic of Congo where evangelist Sammy Tippit says the upheaval and unrest plaguing the country also affected his work. Tippit had been preparing for a series of crusades when the trouble started. “They were very, very anti-evangelical, they had threatened people with beatings, with stonings and also with even bombing the stadium where the crusades would be held. It put a lot of fear into the general population. But God intervened in it and we saw over 35-hundred people come to know Christ.” Tippit says this is where prayer comes in, not only to encourage but to support. “This past week brought some real hope to the people. I would ask people to pray for peace, to pray for those in authority and to pray for a great revival that would really turn that whole situation around in the Congo.”
