World Vision invests in peace for Sudan

By May 26, 2004

Sudan (MNN)–For more than two decades, peace has eluded the Sudan.

In light of the ongoing peace talks, there is hope for the embattled country. A partnership with World Vision led to a peace building conference held earlier this month in Southern Sudan.

The conference was held in Gogrial County, Bahr el Ghazal Region, which has experienced some of the most destructive violence of these last two decades of civil war. Its central town, Gogrial, has been the centre of a territorial and power struggle between the SPLA (Sudan People’s Liberation Army) and the Government of Sudan.

The main goal of the conference is to inform the community about the progress of the peace settlement process, and launch restoration efforts.

World Vision teams are in place continuing other projects. Their team members say they’re sharing the love of Christ through the help they provide to a hurting community.
