“Boxes of Love” touches lives of inner city kids

By October 24, 2003

USA (MNN)–The children of the inner city often go hungry during the holiday period but “Here’s Life Inner City” works to share God’s love through a meal. The annual “Boxes of Love” tradition provides holiday meals to needy families. Each box includes a complete holiday dinner and the menu may vary slightly according to the tastes of the community. Even as the economy improves, the urban poor are some of the last to see improvements. The food donations and literature often lead to an interest in spiritual things and many times those families and children eventually hear the Gospel message. More than 300,000 Boxes of Love were distrubuted through the years and this year they are looking to provide 25,600 meals to be donated in 16 cities. Thanks to donations of materials and food and partnerships, a gift of $36.71 will provide a Box of Love worth more than $51for one family. Those who may be interested in helping can contact Here’s LIfe Inner City through Campus Crusade for Christ.
