Camp ministry, church planting and working together to change lives.

Romania (MNN) — In the picturesque foothills of Romania’s Carpathian Mountains, three ministries have partnered together to change lives through Christ.

Doug Martin, the Eastern Europe Regional Director with the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism, had a vision to incorporate camp ministry into a strategy of mobilizing a church planting movement in Romania. Evangelism, discipleship and leadership training are all components of this movement.

His vision has led to a key partnership between ABWE, Holy Trinity Baptist Church of Bucharest, and Michigan-based Lake Ann Baptist Camp. Together they hope to populate Romania with vibrant churches that continue to spread the Good News of Jesus.

In the 15 years since the fall of communism, Holy Trinity Baptist Church has planted 20 churches, with 10 more church plants in progress.

Lake Ann is a Christian camp and retreat center that ministers to thousands of young people, churches and groups year-round at their Northern Michigan camp.

The combined forces of this key partnership are putting on a camp for Romanian youth this week. Eight summer camp counselors from Lake Ann are in Romania working side-by-side with Romanian counselors.

With developing relationships at the heart of camp ministry and church planting, ABWE hopes to see this camp outreach spread into communities with the hope of the Gospel.

Pray that God will work in the hearts of the Romanian youth attending camp. Pray that many kids will make life-changing decisions for Christ this week, and that relationships will be cultivated to further church planting work.
