Christians converge on World Cup ministry opportunties.

By June 8, 2006

Germany (MNN)–The World Cup kickoff is only days away, and the marketing juggernaut is drawing hundreds of thousands of spectators to Germany.

News reports show that faith communities are not letting the opportunity to share their message pass by. More than 1,000 churches have plans to show the tournament live as well as holding seminars and special services to encourage potentially new, and existing, Christians to come together.

With 12 host cities, the workload must be shared. Greater Europe Mission will be one of many mission agencies there, too, with evangelism in mind.

Outreach efforts often involve service as well as the more traditonal one-on-one ministry approach. Many efforts are built around relationship building over the course of hte games.

Pray for their EuroTeam Special Outreach team going to Berlin June 29-July 10. Their church-planting team will be working in Cologne, too, June 9-July 9. Teams are also running a World Cup Cafe throughout the month.
