Christians in US to join in year long prayer effort

By November 22, 2005

USA (MNN/BP) — As unprecedented numbers of Christians thirst to be a part of what God is doing throughout the nations, churches will come together Jan. 27 and Jan. 29 to celebrate in a special Churches Communication Network (CCN) simulcast event called Lift Up Your Voice…A Call to Prayer.

Planners hope this 90-minute event, featuring author/speaker Beth Moore, will ignite a fire in the hearts of church congregations for the lost. Moore, along with nearly 300 International Mission Board missionaries, wrote the recent best-selling book, “Voices of the Faithful.”

Joining Moore will be David Jeremiah, pastor of Shadow Mountain Community Church, author and host of nationally syndicated radio program, “Turning Point”; Jerry Rankin, president of the International Mission Board; Carrie McDonnall, former IMB worker who was critically injured in Iraq in 2004 and author of “Facing Terror”; and Travis Cottrell, vocalist and worship leader.

A year-long prayer initiative will be introduced as key speakers connect churches with God’s work around the world.

“I can’t wait to be part of the Lift Up Your Voice simulcast,” Moore said. “I am convinced we are living in one of the most strategic eras (of God’s) kingdom. God is up to something huge, something global.

Rankin said he believes the Lift Up Your Voice emphasis will fill a need for church leaders who have been looking for ways to encourage their congregations to pray.

“Lift Up Your Voice is a special invitation for churches to lift up hearts, minds and voices in prayer and devotion in support of missionaries and for the lost around the world,” Rankin said. “The devotional book, ‘Voices of the Faithful,’ and Lift Up Your Voice material are effective and practical tools for such an emphasis for prayer.

“This simulcast will be a call to prayer, but also a celebration of God’s providence and glory among the nations.”
