Christians must remain informed and active in worldwide events.

USA (MNN) — The United States, and specifically, Christians in the U-S, must remain engaged in what’s happening around the world. That was the challenged issued by U-S Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice to 12,000 evangelicals at the annual meeting of Southern Baptist Convention in Greensboro, North Carolina, this week.

Rice encouraged the gathering to continue doing what they’re doing, including “digging wells and building dams and strengthening communities.” She said that there’s a choice before Americans, to either lead in the world or withdraw, to rise to challenges or shrink from them.

Missionaries with the International Mission Board of the SBC are actively involved in evangelism, church planting and humanitarian work in numerous countries around the world, all with the goal of presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ in order to lead individuals to saving faith in Him and result in church-planting movements among all the peoples of the world.

Pray for continued effectiveness and that more people would respond to, not just the challenge from the Secretary of State, but from God to go into all the world and preach the Gospel.
