Christians reflect on peace and need in Florida’s recovery.

USA (MNN)–Rebuilding Florida’s southwest coast could take another year, in the wake of Hurricane Charley.

Disaster relief efforts are underway to help survivors fix homes, clear fallen trees, and provide emergency support.

The Southern Baptists have expanded their relief efforts as the true devastation comes to light. Their Disaster Relief agency has nearly 100 cleanup and recovery teams activated, lending a hand in more than 350 disaster relief projects throughout the hardest hit areas.

Volunteers, representing 16 Baptist state conventions and the North American Mission Board, are providing both physical and spiritual care to Floridians during the time of crisis.

Other relief groups are providing manpower and tools. Samaritan’s Purse sent emergency tools and supplies to be used as self-contained emergency centers. SP works with local churches to coordinate volunteer efforts.

Pray that people respond to the love of Christ as they rebuild their lives.
