Compassion and the love of Christ meet practical needs of inner city kids.

By July 19, 2005

USA (MNN) — A ministry throughout the U-S is reaching out in compassion to inner-city kids. Through their “Heart and Sole” campaign, Here’s Life Inner City is bringing smiles to kids faces by giving them a new pair of shoes and introducing them to Christ.

This practical outworking of the love of Christ is changing lives as Here’s Life networks with local churches across the U-S to develop youth centers, called S.A.Y. (Save America’s Youth) Yes!, to mentor inner-city kids and introduce them to Christ. At those youth centers, the goal is to give at-risk children a solid foundation which they can build a successful future. Through the local church, each child is ministered to spiritually, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and socially.

The new shoes are a powerful evangelism tool to the urban poor. Here’s Life hopes to provide shoes for more than 2325 kids for the start of the coming school year.

It costs $26.60 to provide a new pair of back-to-school shoes to one inner-city child. The shoes are distributed through the S.A.Y. Yes! Centers across the U-S. To help with the “Heart and Sole” shoe program, go to the Here’s Life Inner City S.A.Y. Yes! website at www.sayyescenters.org.
