Doubling the missionary force on target for OC International

By February 10, 2004

International (MNN) — Doubling their missionary force both in size and scope is a plan that’s making fine progress. OC International made that announcement last January and fine progress is being made toward that goal.

President of OC International Greg Gripentrog says, “This past year we grew in terms of our personnel by about 10-percent. And, we deployed five new missionary teams around the world. So, we’re pretty much right on target with where we hope to be.”

That expansion means the need for additional funding. “The recent down-turn in the economy for the last two years,” says Gripentrog, “combined with the rapid expansion we’re going through right now, we have a major need for increased revenue as an organization.”

Despite the down-turn, Gripentrog says, “2003 was actually a good year for us. We had the biggest December in the history of the mission. The dynamic is that with our growth goals we’ve got to significantly add some staff here at our international mobilization center in order to be able to adequately process, train, support and deploy all these new missionary units that we’re wanting to send around the world.” Gripentrog says they would like to send 40 new missionary couples to the field so the added funding is greatly needed.

60-percent of the growth will actually take place overseas. The goal is to have an impact on national leaders around the world. “Our target by 2007,” says Gripentrog, “would be to impact a quarter-million national leaders each year.”

This past year OC International impacted 60 countries of the world. Gripentrog says that outreach will continue in 2004. “We’ve already launched one new teams in an unnamed country of the Middle East and we have some others on the drawing board this year.”

An additional one-million dollars is needed this year to help them with their outreach goals.
