Liberia (GAiN/MNN) — While virtually every NGO (non-government organization) has pulled its personnel out of Liberia, Global Aid Network’s Cru (or Campus Crusade for Christ) partners are remaining on the ground in Liberia, continuing to minister. GAiN USA is committed to sending medical supplies, medical equipment, food, and other requested items.

University students who are involved in Campus Crusade’s ministry in Liberia have developed a pamphlet entitled, Ebola Kills, Jesus Heals. They’re offering the pamphlet as they help with the distribution of GAiN-provided food and medical items to people.

The students also have set up a cell phone prayer chain. Each night from 10-11 PM, groups of five students on a conference call pray for the Ebola crisis, for salvation of specific people, for their country, and for many other needs.

One Liberian doctor is an example of a man living out his faith, trusting in the Lord. Dr. Kortimai is chief of the hospital in Lofa County, site of the worst Ebola outbreak in Liberia. He is a government physician, a pastor, and an associate of the Campus Crusade for Christ ministry who was discipled by Campus Crusade when he was a student at the university.

In a recent interview, Dr. Kortimai was asked why he stays in Lofa County. “As a pastor, I’m the shepherd of my sheep. The shepherd doesn’t leave his sheep. As a physician, I’m to care for my patients, not abandon them. I believe that my practice is not only for medical care but is also for spiritual purposes, and people’s lives can be transformed.”

In talking about the fear that so many people are experiencing because of Ebola, he said, “In the midst of faith, fear ceases to exist. Let’s walk in faith.”

When asked if he is returning to Lofa County, he replied, “If I don’t go, who will?”

When he returned to Lofa County, Dr. Kortimai took with him 50 boxes of food sent by GAiN USA.

This week, GAiN USA is sending another shipping container packed with bulk food (rice and beans), packaged meals, medical supplies, medical equipment, beds and mattresses, and other assorted material.

Pray for a safe journey for GAiN USA deliveries and a quick hand out process when it arrives. Pray also for increased opportunities to share Christ with those who need eternal hope.

  • This article is offensive trash.

Offensive trash? Why do you think that?

  • If people did their research they would “discover” that “Christianity” is nothing more than a reason to brainwash innocent people who are trying to live their lives. I mean seriously its disgusting! A big sprit man floating in the sky? Demons i can maybe believe, but the whole god story is a fantasy novel. Wake up people.

  • anybody heard Pat Robertson on 700 Club. Hes a “Christian”. apparently you can get aids from towels now. Praise the lord. god is not REAL. wake up people. wtf

  • I would propose that anyone who agrees with me to write some more comments. lets start a revolution where Christianity is dead. it destroys lives. Jehovah witness, Mormons, Pentecostals, it makes no difference. i know what brainwashing is and i can say that it has harmed me and other people too. Care to disagree anyone?

    Dear Robert
People believe because of experience, not because they are brainwashed. Gone are the days, when people are forced to accept the faith. Much as I would like you also to believe in the Triune God, the choice is yours. If there is no power that keeps it going, it will die a natural death – nobody needs to start a revolution. From before the time of Christ, people have been seeking spiritual help for carrying on. Which means there is a global recognition of a superior power that helps them along. It is very essential to know the difference between real and fake preachers. If people in countries where persecution is rife lay down their lives for the Lord, it definitely must mean something to them. I pray that you find your path and true bearings in your life.

Robert, many people more powerful than you have tried to wipe out Christians from the face of the earth. It’s kind of interesting. Those people who tried, actually made it stronger and larger. I find it kinda sad that you’ve come to this site to trash a faith you may or may not know anything about. You’re free to do so. Personally, I’d rather have you here than somewhere else. But, the fact remains that many have tried to disprove God. Even scientists have a hard time proving evolution because something can’t come from nothing. If that’s true — something had to exist to make or put that something there. There have been many who have tried to disprove the Bible, creation, its accounts of history, etc. All have failed. But, I understand your disbelief. I would be in your shoes, too, if I didn’t understand the truth. It doesn’t make much sense to believe this. But, when you know it’s truth, it’s proven to be true and you know the one who makes it so, it’s quite easy. Let me challenge you — if you’re so confident it ISN’T true, read through the Bible from cover to cover and see what you can understand from it. If nothing else, you will have read the world best selling book in world history. You’ll see that the Christian faith is far from brain-washing.

Thank God for His mercy, Gentlemen.

  • Just because people say experience and faith and maybe something else is enough to know god exists doesn’t mean he does. People need something in their lives to give them hope and i think that is sad. I have been with the Jehovah Witness cult and the Pentecostals and i see no evidence that God exists apart from maybe a few things that are probably imagination. Why claim God is real when he is not and Christians use that to their advantage. Thank you Greg for letting me know your opinion. The subject Of God bothers me a lot.

    Robert,
If you feel engaging in a conversation helps you, let us contnue. My e-mail address is [email protected]. I would love to know reasons for your doubt. Nobody can be sure, all have questions at various points of time in life. I have a lot of testimony to share.

  • Thomas says:

    Dear Robert,
Even going through the above, it is clear that Dr. Kortimai is putting his life to extreme risk just by faith.By his actions, he is reminded about ‘I am the good shepherd, who is willing to die for the sheep’ John Ch 10 V 11.
