South Asia (MNN) — The Indian capital city of New Delhi will soon hear the Gospel on the airwaves of a new FM radio station slated to launch in October.

The Indian-based Christian radio organization launching the station already broadcasts Christian programming in a number of Indian languages, but mostly in short-wave radio. This new FM station will have the potential to reach many new listeners in Delhi. It will be broadcast in Hindi, the trade language of northern India.

The Southern Baptist International Mission Board works throughout the South Asia region and asks for prayer as this initiative moves forward. Pray that the new station will effectively share the Gospel with the many people groups living and working in New Delhi and that people will come to know Christ and plant churches.

Also, IMB asks prayer for a producer of Christian radio programs in the Urdu language, which reaches across India, Pakistan, South Asia and the Middle East. He is flooded with letters from listeners asking questions about Jesus and requesting literature. Pray that God will give strength and wisdom to the producer and his staff and continue using the Urdu programming to draw many Urdu speakers to Himself.
