Growth comes to a seminary outreach in Mozambique.

Mozambique (MNN)–OMS International’s David Long says construction of their Maputo Biblical Seminary building is nearing completion.
It’s come a long way since 1998, when the dream first became a reality…and soon became evident they would have to grow the size of the dream.

The training and discipleship ministry of OMS International began in November 1997 in a home Bible study–the same month OMS International was registered in Mozambique.

OMS International acquired a suitable piece of property in Maputo in December 1999. This property came with a small two-room building that could be used for preliminary seminary classes.

Long says, “Presently, they’re able to train only 50 students at a time.” When the classes got too cramped, and looked to continue in that vein, it was time to grow.

Today’s plans will accomodate that, he adds. “The expanded facility will allow them to train up to as many as 200 sutdents, and of course, these are pastors and workers for the churches in Mozambique.”

Another challenging goal is to have 50% of the faculty made up of committed Mozambican teachers by 2010. “We always have the need for qualified teachers who would come, and especially those who would come and spend some time there, who would teach for at least a semester or who might commit for a year or two years, or longer, to a seminary like that.”
