Helping nationals provide pastoral training resources for themselves.

By October 4, 2006

Congo (MNN) — A new leadership training initiative is underway in the Congo. The Free Church of the Congo, a national partner of the Evangelical Free Church Mission, is beginning a project to provide much-needed training to more than 400 of their pastors who have little or no training.

The training project will take place over three years, led by Congolese Free Church leaders and with help from pastors from the United States. Training courses will be held throughout the Congo in order for pastors and other leaders to receive the training in their own contexts of ministry.

Currently, the Congo Free Church leaders are writing the curriculum for the training sessions, but they have a major problem. They don’t have a way to duplicate the materials for the pastors.

But the E-Free Church is raising funds to equip the Congo Free Church offices with a print shop, in order to print not only materials for the leadership training, but also materials for many other ministries they’re involved with. Those include HIV/AIDS ministry, medical outreach, women’s ministries, Community Health Evangelism, discipleship and more.

The print shop project cost is $10,000 (USD), and a US-based foundation is matching the E-Free Church’s fund-raising efforts up to $5000 (during the month of October only). To help contribute to this project and have a lasting impact on ministries in Congo, go to EFCA’s donation page.
