I am an expat, christian and raised in a missionary environement in CAR. I am in Bangui and I was a witness to the killing of the man you refer to in the article. It was horrific, but just one mere incident of thousands.

But sadly that is not what upsets me the most. What upsets me the most is that the protestant missioraires have let this country down. None of the catholics have left, none of the expat NGO staff has left. Only the protestant missionaries.
There has been NO targeted violence towards expat missionaires - and even if there was - is it not their job to stay and support the population through hard times?
The protestant missionaries in the country are a disapointement, and I am ashamed of their beheviour. When days are hard - they leave the most vulnerable population behind.

Now, the population says to me "We dont need missionaries, becasue if they are only here to help when life is good - then we dont need them". And frankly, they are right.

Lord, I pray for strength & stamina be given to the Pastors & Christian workers that are hanging in there, doing the work of the Gospel. Pour out Your Spirit upon them that they may continue to minister. I pray for the rebels that are bringing this violence that You will break through with Your Love and transform these lives. Thank You Lord.
