Lack of personnel delays Bible translation in Senegal.

By July 29, 2005

Senegal (MNN)–Wycliffe Bible Translators says their Senegal ministry is facing an obstacle that is causing delay to translation work.

Because of staff shortages, language personnel have to fill other critical personnel needs. In at least one case, the delay grew into two years.

According to Wycliffe, one language worker took on the responsibility of an administrative position for two years.

His willingness to fill the essential position meant that another language team did not have to leave their project already underway to serve in the role, but this caused him to delay entering a translation project, delay language learning and delay linguistic analysis in preparation for the translation.

The Senegal office urgently needs a replacement for the Center Manager who will be leaving next year. Please pray that God will send someone so that language teams can continue their translation and literacy work on the field.
